Product Description
Earlier this year John Suchet revealed that his beautiful 67-year-old wife Bonnie, the love of his life, is suffering from Dementia. During the past three years he has gone from lover to carer. And he has found that exceptionally tough. In this moving, and bitterly honest account, the newsreader reveals his loneliness and his despair.

5 out of 5 stars an insight into living with dementia   September 9, 2010

A very moving and touching story. It really shows how very frustrating and upsetting it is to care for a person with this illness.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Book   September 4, 2010

This was a really great read one of the best books I have read in a long while. I couldn't put it down every spare minute I picked it up to read. You can really sympathise with John.

I hope others will read this book and find comfort in it.

3 out of 5 stars with sadness   August 25, 2010

The book is more about John than Bonnie (it is full of self pity!) It is with sadness I read how love can turn to bitterness & anger because of this incomprehensible disease. I wondered as I read if Bonnie would have reacted in the same way had it been John who had been stuck with dementia - sadly we will never know. She was quite obviously a wonderful wife who encouraged her husband at every hands turn.

I found this book riveting. Could not leave it down until I had finished. My father in law suffered from dementia before he died. I just wish this book had been published before he died; I would have been so much wiser as how to deal with the various situations that arose.

I found John Suchet's account very moving and poignant. I bought the book (and a copy for my mother) because my father is suffering from Alzheimers and we are seeking as much moral support as can be found; this sad love story gave me everything I was looking for. Brave man to write it; but a very welcome read.
