I bought this book as a gift for some friends in Germany, they are planning a UK holiday with thier caravan for 2011.
I chose this book because it is easy to follow, & covers a wide range of camping & caravan sites in the UK.
It is a good buy for anyone who enjoyes camping or caravaning.........Buy it.

We buy this every year and use it for all our camping holidays. Haven't had a bad one yet based on the recommendations of the Guide.

2 out of 5 stars Good for Uk, do not buy for Ireland   March 29, 2010

I would have rated this guide a 5 stars if it wasn't for the Irish section, which is very poor. There are not many campsites in the Republic of Ireland, and they're not of the same standard as UK campsites, which is why I think the authors deliberately chose to ignore some.
However the title of this book is : Britain ***and Ireland*** and this is why I bought it.
There are 18 campsites listed for Ireland, 10 in the North, and only 8 campsites in the Republic.
I do not think 8 listings justify a full blown "and Ireland" title !

With a warning note about the standard of campsites in the Republic they could have developped the section further, and mentioned some of the 20/30 more ** acceptable campsites ** in Ireland, without compromising their rating standard.

So, a great book with clear, functional descriptions of campsites, and the essential information you might need to plan your trip, but only good for UK.

For Irish campsites see online sites.

I found this guide to be well presented and easy to use plenty of info about the sites, all sites are rated so you can pick the best site that suits your needs

2 out of 5 stars Great for the UK, useless for Ireland   September 9, 2009

The book is a great guide if you're planning a camping trip only in the UK, that is England, Wales and Scotland.
If you're planning a trip to Ireland, either Northern or the republic, this guide will be useless for you.
The book has nearly 400 pages, and only 6 for the entirety of Ireland. 3 pages for North, and 3 for the rest!
Look elsewhere if you're planning a trip to the emerald Isle - they should probably take Ireland out of the title for this book as even the information provided is pretty basic and doesn't really cover most of the places you'd want to visit anyway.
